My band stereogamous has contributed an original make out track to the Butt Magazine mix tape compilation. Butt Magazine is the alt-homo zine for art homos, fashion gays and post porn poofters. I love it. Curated by Butt magazine and Honey Soundsyatem the compilation will feature the cream of homo producers from around the planet. Or as an angry ex said: "boring codswallop from a bunch of gay guys that just pat each other on the back" You decide! If your in San Francisco head to the launch this Sunday at the legendary Stud. It’s time to dust off your boombox and break out your walkman. BUTT Magazine and the popular ‘queer DJ collective’ Honey Soundsystem have collaborated on a limited edition mixtape to be given out at Honey Sundays, their weekly party in San Francisco, California. The mixtape features many music-making homos our readers will know from the magazine as well as acts who have performed at previous BUTT parties. Honey Soundsystem has crafted an exclusive mix from a number of previously unreleased tracks, including some of their and our favorite artists.

If you happen to be in San Francisco, then come on down (details below). Honey Soundsystem residents will be lighting up the dance floor, there’ll be cheap ass drinks, and the first 300 guests get a cassette. A limited number of copies will be available after the party through Honey Soundsystem’s website.

Over the weekend, Honey Soundsystem’s buddies at Paradise Lounge got hit with an injunction from the buzz killers at Alcoholic Beverage Control so we’ve had to move our listening party just a couple blocks over to 9th and Harrison at the legendary Stud Bar. It's no secret that LCD Soundsystem is one of my fave bands on the planet. I picked up the "I'm Losing my Edge" 12" back in the early naughties whilst i was living in New York City. It still gets played today. They have continued to release some of the most fun and interesting music in the past decade. Their live shows are both dynamic and a party all in one. Just say total fanboy.

I was lucky enough to meet James Murphy in January this year in Melbourne while they were on tour in their dj guise as Special Disco Version. A total gentleman to say the least. Through the wonders of the universe, my stereogamous pal Paul Mac and I were given the opportunity to remix "I Can Change" the new single from the amazing "This is Happenning" album. Listening to all the individual tracks of this genius song really shows the artistry and detail that is put into this band's work. Trying to reinterpret a perfect song is kinda an intimidating task. We approached this task kinda with a more than a little trepidation. How do you re imagine something so complete? We decided not to pull any fancy tricks but just to redo the backing hook with a number of instruments, and beef up the kick for a late night dancefloor session. Well here it is. We more than honoured that it's ended up on vinyl for the super DFA. We even received good words from some special writers we love loads too.

You know the new LCD Soundsystem album? And you know the way it's pretty remarkable but in a pretty unremarkable kind of way? Well this VERY REMARKABLE remix of 'I Can Change' appeared in our inbox yesterday morning. It is by Stereogamous and we have listened to it precisely seven times.

The track will come this remix from Australians Paul Mac and Seymour Butz aka Stereogamous. Honey Soundsystem is made up of a group of disc jockeys, musicians, performers and designers. They bonded over a shared love of timeless sound, iconic imagery, indulgent behavior and most of all, attractive men. Since forming in January 2006, Honey Soundsystem has brought new style and edge to the San Francisco dance scene. They have hosted DJ's from around the world, including Todd Terje, Hawke aka Gavin Hardkiss, Stefan Goldmann, Hercules & Love Affair, Discodromo, Cosmo Vitelli, DJ Spun, and many more purveyors of beautiful musics.

I am super stoked to be a part of such a skilled and talented (& handsome) posse of producers. Respect to Jacob Pee Play for having the motivation to get this project done. Mandy Warhol (formerly CUBS) is a project with my special pal Nick Wales (Coda, Alterboy) that has been kicking around a lil' while. This track originally started out as theme music for a stadium sporting match earlier this year. It's now been clubified for the gays. The olympic opening ceremony style tom tom drums were played by Bree Van Reyk & Evan Mansell, and the didgeridoo by Mark Atkins. Extreme thanks to my Stereogamous Paul Mac for his editing genius.

Once upon a time, shepherd men roamed the hills of Süd Tirol for months on end without coming across a woman. While tending over their flocks at night, they would just as attentively bend to a sausage at abendessen; it was called the wurst. Over centuries, the men would gather before the snow would melt in late February to welcome in the new spring and it was here the golden wurst was presented to the bravest of them all. During World War II, the golden wurst mysteriously disappeared over the border. Some say it was whisked to Austria, or Australia. It was the matter of a few letters.

A great gig coming this weekend with Australia's most dynamic queer bands. There's nothing fauxmosexual going on here. Fully stoked to be playing with The Blow Waves and amazing The Blush Foundation. Both these bands are on the verge of something amazing. With new albums due in the new year, guaranteed both these queer bands will own 2010. Through these films we hope to introduce you to the lives of Queer people in Turkey, how they go about their lives, what their dreams are, what they face in daily situations and what it may be like to be Queer and Turkish. A number of the Shorts we are screening this year are real, they are documentaries taken from very personal points of view and shared in an entertaining, moving and often satirical and comical way. Such as is ‘Rent A Boy’ and ‘He/She Berlin’. The program is also mixed with some boldly told dramas and erotic stories from ancient myths such as in ‘Makbul – his Favouriet One’ the story of the Chief caretaker of the Sultan and the daily, homo-erotic ritual of washing the Sultans feet. Plus the powerful ‘Lots Wife’ which centres around the tale of Sodom and Gomorrah.

This year we will also be celebrating these films by throwing a massive party, hosted by Trixi von Heute, we will be turning SCHWUZ into the inside of a Turkish Water Pipe, complete with International Entertainment from renowned Australian DJ Seymour Butz / stereogamous plus Mikki_P and on our indierock-trash floor, our very own local Desolation Disko King & Das Ponymaedchen.

XPOSED is about XPOSER and XPOSING. It’s about FUN, BERLIN and it’s about TIME! ‘The XPOSED international queer short film festival berlin’ was created to bring Queer Short Films from other nations to Berlin during Pride Week and to provide international Xposure for Queer Filmmakers from around the world. This year, we will also be announcing from which nation our 5th Anniversary will be focusing on. It is going to be HUGE!

I made friends with We ave Band via myspace (yes, it really still works) Super nice and sweet and friendly. To be lazy I'd say they are a hybrid of the B52s, ESG and Talking Heads 2013. Big call I know, but they are on to something special.

We Have Band first got in contact to use the remix of Mandy Warhol's "i'm Gay" for a compilation. (Did you know that the track was the "most played" on floats at The Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras. A "Float Anthem" if you will...

Stereogamous were later commissioned to remix "You Came Out" and now it is seeing the light of day on vinyl. Along side such UK luminaries as The lovely JonJo (Butt Magazine, Durr), Cage & Aviary and Clouded Vison. The release also features the band's well ace cover of The Pet Shop Boys "West End Girls." I know these cats are going to be everywhere soon... believe me.

What I listened to in 2008, according to lastfm. Pretty teched up by the looks of it. I was lucky enough to meet Dusty Kid in Italy (thanks bearemy!) See Hercules and Love Affair live in London and Sydney (amazing!) See my nephews The Presets win over everyone from homos at Folsom Street to totally own the Australian Recording Industry Awards. My friend Grace Jones returned from being Grace Jones and released an Album that was completely, Grace Jones. I have had the title track "Hurricane" on a test pressing since 1992. Fo reals! Looking forward to hanging with her next week.
The rest is an amazing selection of mostly Berlin electronic artists. They get me every time... so deep. Totals looking forward to what will be going in my earhole this year.

The year started just great, and thanks for asking. Watched the first sunrise of 2009 with a bunch of friends on to of the hill at Sydney Park. The sun got a round of applause from the 50 or so heads gathered together. Nice. Later that night I played at Handlebar vs Snatch & Grab's partay featuring Shunda K of Yo Majesty, Lovertits and Ghetto Pussy. An awesome kick of too the year. I'm totes blessed to have such great promoters and punters in this city of Sydney. Here's to a great sumer.

Summer started officially in Sydney last Sunday. I headed to Global Gathering to check out my pals Chris Lego, Lauren Flax and Casey Spooner support Kraftwerk! I got Autobahn for my 5th birthday so it was a special childhood recolection one for me. In fact everyone. The room looked completely mesmerized/in awe, even the little methhed up munchkin jigging away in front of me. It was a sweaty sauna session meets church experience. Thanks to our draconian laws there were an army of sniffer dogs at the ticket box and main gate to get into this gig. The security was heavier than the popes visit. Over 50 people were arrested for carrying "prohibited substances." By now the possibility of getting searched upon entry to any dance event (no sniffer dogs seen at the opera house, hey) is as real as the booking fee. The chance of getting arrested is also extremely high. The message is clear: Don't take anything with you! - take it before entry.

No. To be fair it is the biopic of Harvey Milk, the first openly gay elected official in the USA. Wow. I know, its very so last month for my San Francisco lovers, but it isn't being released until the new year here in oz. Take tissues and be prepared to be inspired like and angry student. Harvey Milk was so on it. Times only changed because of his ability to get the people moving. Still the situation is still pretty lame for the 'mo's. After Saturday's summer preview, Sunday was a washout. Plans for the beach were shelved for the 2008 Mr Leather Sydney Pagent. Held at my new local leather bar, The Manacle in Petersham, this is the first Mr Leather competition in Sydney in over 10 years(!) A great swag of prizes made the competition appealing to a bunch of fellas who presented themselves to take the crown.

On such a crappy day, it felt good to be in a testosterone central dark club. Despite the butchy nature of the contest, it was camper than a kylie concert. Respect to Brutus, a 60 yo daddy bear for fronting the pack, and all the fellas had something special to say (cue tales of; self respect / sexual adventure / hiv/aids ect) It was an enjoyable afternoon for all involved. I was even asked home by one of the less successful entrants, but hey, I'm no consolation prize!

My big respects to Sydney Leather Pride and my new bosses at the manacle for making me attend this one. It really was a fun/heartwarming, community bonding day out. Major probs to the fellas putting themselves out there. And coping with my heckling "spread 'em", "bend over" , "spank it", "gimme 10 squats", "what's for lunch?", the started to get pretty graphic by the end.
The sexy canuck Alan took the sash and crown from a very diverse and competitive field. All genres of the caucasian male species were covered (daddy / bear / twink / punk / smooth /hairy). Bearemy, my dear italian brother's film is now being shown online on the Logo network. It never fails to get me all weepy... in the good way. There's a little teddy bear in all of us just looking for a cuddle, no? A cartoon that tells us it sure is ok to follow your heart. And it's really worth the effort - two bears on an Italian island taught me that! The soundtrack features Royce on vocal duties, one of the worlds undiscovered beautiful voices. He really should be on ipods everywhere.

Spring cleaning time. So dealing with the fact that Sydney has just experienced the coldest August in 64 years, hoping that "the sun will come out, tomorrow," getting over the local man flu, I've found myself faffing round the house. (Actually Sydney hasn't ben that bad,.. the sun seems to be shining more than usual, and it is a good excuse to wear long johns)... While making room for the new, I found this lil' mix sitting quietly, all on its lonely own in the bowels of the old hard drive. Recorded at several weeks ago at club kooky, it's a one hour, bumpy, drummy, chunky, clunky, druggy, ride. Grace Jones, Matias Agyayo, Diplo, Mihalis Safras & Mark Broom, Marc Houle, Dusty Kid, Zoo Brzil are all in the wonky mix. This isn't a trendy fluromantic decontructed fringey fringe banging noise anthems. The quality ain't great, the levels distort, the turntable gets bumped, as do people in the box. It's late night trip over fun though.
Music serves as a wonderful key to unlock memories. And this session gave me warm fuzzy feelings. The reason why I love to go out to listen to and discover music is that I get a visceral thrill and all excited by the sounds floating out there in the universe. To find them, share them and then especially to watch people bust freaky shapes and make human hieroglyphic reinterpretations of the rhythms on the dance floor... well thats why I'm here. And squeal. I love it when you squeal. Oh yeah, and whistle like lisa.
To all the folks that made this music and the peeps who let go in front of speakers, I say thank you very much.
So why no celebrate spring with a share? Hope you like!
