A great gig coming this weekend with Australia's most dynamic queer bands. There's nothing fauxmosexual going on here. Fully stoked to be playing with The Blow Waves and amazing The Blush Foundation. Both these bands are on the verge of something amazing. With new albums due in the new year, guaranteed both these queer bands will own 2010. Playing with my lil' bro' Lovertits, and a bunch of other lovely homos. How often do you get to experience live balls out homo rock n roll in a gay bar? OK we are not in SFO. This is a gift Sydney. The Blow Waves are like a hyper gay version of the B52's and the Village People. "A gayer Scissor Sisters" is another one I've seen written on toliet walls. Pretty apt. The Blush Foundation wrote the lesbian anthem "Designer Vagina" and have morphed into a tech-noir amazement. My naive ise of language isn't able to describe how special they are. Represent locals. Ever wondered what your favourite DJ listens to when they’re at home? Or what your favourite band would put on a mixtape for a road trip? Or maybe what your favourite painter listens to as she creates a masterpiece? B-Side is where you will find out.


Lorna Clarkson from FBI radio’s Under The Influence show has teamed up with The Beresford Hotel to invite avid music collectors to come together in The Beresford Hotel Beer Garden with friends and likeminded people on a Sunday afternoon to share the rare, beautiful, strange and surprising sounds that make up their record collections. This is where you will hear dj’s in a way that you’ve never heard them before – techno dj’s playing folk, house dj’s playing indie, hip hop dj’s playing psych. Also, record collectors come in all shapes and sizes so don’t be surprised to see your favourite band or director or painter down there indulging in some afternoon vinyl love.


And B-Side is not only about music outside the boundaries, it is also outside the club. Finally you can hear amazing music in the afternoon. Yes totally, it's held in a sex club. Club8O is an enormous men-only cruise club. It is also the eighth wonder of the world with all of its tricks: cubicles, smoke and mirrors. It has everything a man needs: a cinema lounge, internet and 3 floors of cruising. TRØUGH X is primarily a dance party. In fact its a T-dance party, which runs from 3pm until midnight.

Really? Oh no. TRØUGH X is not a piss or underwear party, but we don’t ask you to hold it in. Come as you are. There is no dress or sex policy but we do ask you to take a man by the hand for a dance... Or nothing else, get off on the aesthetics of the place; the dancing, the films, and maybe even the score.

Yeah, they're hot dudes. The promotional material for TRØUGH X was a collaboration between us and photographer Paul Barbera. The positioning of the men are moments of spectacular dance floor movements and antics. The artwork is also inspired by the hanky code, a time when a black bandanna on the left cheek meant something. We’re not taking the piss by leveraging gay symbology; we’re just working for ways to give it meaning again.

Firstly, there is the Melbourne debut of STEREOGAMOUS: Johnny Seymour and Paul Mac. Direct from the Sydney Opera House, STEREOGAMOUS land in the rough house of Club80 for some how-deep-is-your-love love-in. Together, they have refixed The Presets, We Have Band and My Robot Friend. Plus there’s Rob Gilbert. He’s a resident at Dirty, Sydney’s underground dance monthly, and crowd-pleaser at Sleezeball and Mardi Gras. There’s also a dad’s army of djs who over the years have been raised at the TROUGH: MANDATE, KAPITOLINA, ROMAN BRUCE and the introduction of NEGATIV MAGICK to play man-to-man sounds: New Beat, Electro, Dark Disco, Electronic Body Music, Tribal Tech.

Simple. A ticket gives you 2 days of access to Club80. The main event happens on the 10th of October from 3pm until midnight with over six djs to keep you sweating on the dancefloor. Then from midnight until very late, guest djs play dark beats on the top level cruise area. (Alcohol will be served only from 3pm-11pm Saturday). The next day the ticket gives you FREE entry to CLUB80 for a selection of cinema screenings including, art house, vintage classic porn and armature X films.

from Bath House to Opera House

From Seymours humble beginnings in the bath house, he has made it to The Sydney Opera House. This weekend I perform with my band Stereogamous, alongside the amazing Coda and Emma Watkins.

My Mutation Live! is a very special Studio club night that will bring cyberspace to life and celebrate the winner of the online dance competition. Emma Watkins, from Sydney is the winner of the online dance competition MyMutation . As well as winning $2,000 cash, Emma will work with choreographer Kelly Abbey and perform on stage at Sydney Opera House in MyMutation Live . Kelley has been responsible for the choreography on everything from George Miller’s Happy Feet to the arena spectacular The Boy from Oz. Kelley will bring elements of MyMutation online to life – in real time, in the House.

With special guests: DJ’s Stereogamous (aka Paul Mac and Seymour Butz); and chameleon pop orchestra CODA with their new dance set ‘Tokyo does the Charleston’.
